   I’m sorry to be a contrarian here, but I am dismayed at the horribly UNscientific way this whole “Nibiru” thing is being handled by the lay public – and here meaning the authors of these “dwarf star” conjectures.

   Much is made of “alignments”, ignoring the fact that a body the size of Elenin cannot have any significant mass so as to have ANY significant effect on Earth and especially not when it is on the other side of the Sun. How massive would you like to falsely believe your dwarf object is?

   Has anyone bothered to look at the worldwide patterns of earthquakes without having a mystical axe to grind? These events occur all over the world very frequently. To peg a specific event to a specific extraterrestrial body would take proof, and none is offered. In fact, NONE CAN BE OFFERED. I have never seen a more extensive abuse of the “Post Hoc Ergo Propter Hoc” fallacy in my life: the idea that because ‘this’ happened and then ‘that’ happened, ‘this’ MUST have CAUSED ‘that’.

   Please go review the inverse-squared laws for gravitation and electromagnetism and calculate how massive the dwarf object would have to be to have any effects on Earth such as have been predicted for it. Then show the public that the supposed dwarf object is in fact that massive. And by the way, there cannot be any indeterminacy in the position (or identity or mass) of the object. If it exists as claimed, it follows physical laws so that we do know where it is and where it’s going. There can be no guessing here.

   All we are waiting for is any scientific proof for the (amazingly) unscientific conjectures.

   If NASA rejects your conjectures out of hand – they might be doing it for obvious reasons (i.e. that they don’t believe you for good cold scientific reasons.) Postulating a conspiracy to silence ‘critics’ is one last refuge for people with nothing valid to say: namely, sour grapes for people who ignored physical laws to make fantastic claims for astral events. The MOON exerts more force on Earth daily than ”Nibiru” has ever done yet and still Earth has not — exploded. Let’s have a sense of scale to rescue us. Please.

   I’m also waiting to hear of the nature of the “intelligent control” of these objects that was claimed for them. I will ignore the intrusion of religion into the piece.

   I am willing to debate the specific authors (authors only please) briefly, via email at ecsd at ecsd.com.

   It only takes a few simple calculations to show the absurdity of the millenial claims people make about space rocks. As I said, the Moon exerts a lot of force on Earth (e.g. tides) and yet Earth survives easily.

   They claim their object will pass 1/4 AU away from Earth and is so massive we should be scared.

   Really.

   So: calculate what MASS is needed at 1/4 AU from Earth just to MATCH the gravitational force the Moon exerts on Earth?

   The answer is that the object would have a mass approximately 5/4 times that of SATURN (118 times Earth’s mass.) And that is just to MATCH the Moon’s pull from 1/4 AU – no stronger.

   Since their object doesn’t come anywhere close to this size, they copy Star Trek script material and posit that the object is made of superdense matter – I guess. Or they ignore such glaring refutations as the above. And keep waving their hands.

   In any case, let me know when an object more massive than Saturn can “sneak up on us” with nobody noticing on the one hand, and all worldwide space agencies lying about it on the other.
